Watch: Menus Management walkthrough
See how to create, edit, customise, and delete menus in a 4-minute video.
How menus work
In Digital Dineway, a menu is a named collection of items — typically a service window like “Breakfast”, “Lunch”, “Dinner”, or “Drinks”. Items themselves live in the shared Items library and get linked into menus.
Menu
A named list of dishes. Assigned to one or more outlets.
Outlet
A physical location. Decides currency and timezone.
Item
A single dish. Shared across menus at the business level.
Currency is never set on the menu itself — it comes from the outlet the menu is assigned to. The same menu assigned to outlets in different countries will automatically render in each outlet's local currency.
Create a new menu
- 1Open Dashboard → Menus in the left sidebar.
- 2Click + Create Menu in the top-right. A drawer slides in from the right.
- 3Fill in the required fields (below), then click Save.
Required
Optional
The menu is created empty. The next steps — assigning it to an outlet, linking items, and customising its look — live in the Customise section below.
Edit a menu
- 1Go to Dashboard → Menus.
- 2Find the menu row and click the Edit button (pencil icon) or click the menu name.
- 3Update the Name, Description, or Active toggle.
- 4Click Save to apply the changes.
Changes are live instantly. The moment you save, guests scanning a QR pointing at this menu will see the new name, description, or availability. Use the Active toggle to pull a menu off the air without deleting it.
Customise a menu
Customising a menu covers three things: which outlets it's available at, which items appear on it, and how it looks to guests.
Assign to outlets
From the menus list, click Assign on a menu row and pick one or more outlets. A menu can be assigned to several outlets at once — useful for chains running a shared menu across locations. Unassigned menus stay hidden, even if marked Active.
Link items
Open the menu and use the Add Items button to pick from your item library. Items can be grouped into categories (Starters, Mains, Desserts) and reordered by drag-and-drop. The order you set here is the order guests see on their phone.
Appearance & branding
Branding is applied in two places: the QR card (set at Dashboard → QR Codes) and the menu page (set on the menu itself).
Basic
Starter plan. Item name, price, description, and food-type indicator. Standard light menu layout.
Advanced
Pro, Business, Enterprise. Full colour, font, cover image, and layout control on the menu card.
Multi-language
On Pro and above, you can add translations per item (name, description, category). Guests get a language switcher on the QR menu page.
Plan gating summary
Basic appearance is included on every plan. Advanced customisation, multi-language menus, and AI-generated item photos are available on Pro and above. See Pricing for the full comparison.
Delete a menu
- 1Go to Dashboard → Menus.
- 2Click the menu row to open it, then click the Delete button (trash icon).
- 3Confirm the action in the dialog. Type the menu name if prompted.
Deletion is permanent
Deleting a menu removes it from every assigned outlet and any QR code pointing at it. Items linked to the menu are not deleted — they stay in your Items library and can be added to another menu. Historical orders placed from the deleted menu remain intact in your reports.
If you just want to take a menu off the air temporarily — for a season change or a staff training period — turn the Active toggle off instead of deleting. Guests see nothing; you can turn it back on in one click.
