Watch: QR Codes walkthrough
Generate, customise, activate, and download table QR codes.
How QR Codes work
QR codes are managed at Dashboard → QR Codes. Each code is tied to a single outlet and a specific table (or hotel room). When a guest scans it, they land on the menu assigned to that outlet.
- •Codes are generated in batches. You pick a target table count and Digital Dineway creates any missing ones.
- •Every code has a unique, permanent URL. Once printed, you never need to reprint — even if you change the menu, card design, or outlet name.
- •The outlet must have a menu assigned before guests can order.
Generate QR codes
- 1Open Dashboard → QR Codes and pick the outlet from the top bar.
- 2Click + Create QR Codes in the top-right. A full-screen drawer opens.
- 3In Config (left panel), set the target Table count. The drawer shows a live preview on the right.
- 4Assign a menu — a modal lists menus assigned to this outlet. You’ll see a warning if none is assigned.
- 5Adjust theme, accent colour, logo, and QR dot styles (see Customise below).
- 6Click Generate to create every missing code up to your target count.
Bulk-first workflow: generation is always by target count. If Table 1 through 3 already exist and you set the target to 6, codes for Tables 4, 5, and 6 are created. Existing codes are never overwritten.
Customise the card design
Customisation applies to every QR card at this outlet. You can't style individual cards differently — it's one design per outlet, which keeps your tables visually consistent.
Available on every plan
Pro plan and above
Customisation is saved per outlet
You can change the card design at any time — the next time you download or print, the new style applies. The underlying QR image and URL are permanent, so guests' old scans keep working.
Activate or deactivate a QR code
Each card on the QR Codes page has an Activate (green) / Deactivate (red) button along with a status dot and an Active / Inactive badge.
When to use Inactive:you're renovating a table, pulling a room out of service, or temporarily disabling a code while you sort out a menu issue. Toggle it back on in one click — no need to reprint.
Download & print
Download a single card
Click the Download icon on any QR card. A high-resolution PNG (2× scale) is saved with a filename like mg-road-table-4.png.
Bulk download
- 1Tick the cards you want using the checkboxes.
- 2In the toolbar, a Download (N) button appears. Click it.
- 3A ZIP file downloads containing every selected card as a separate PNG.
Cards are rendered on the fly from your current design — so if you adjust colours or swap the logo, the next download reflects the change immediately.
Search & bulk actions
The toolbar at the top has:
- •Search tables… — filter by table label as you type.
- •Select all checkbox — toggles every visible card.
- •Bulk Download (N) and Delete (N) buttons appear once you've selected at least one card.
The stats bar at the top also shows your totals at a glance — Total, Active, and Inactive counts.
Delete QR codes
- 1Tick the codes you want to remove using the checkboxes.
- 2Click Delete (N) in the toolbar. A confirmation banner slides in.
- 3The banner warns: "Printed codes will stop working." Click Yes, Delete to confirm, or Cancel to back out.
Deletion is permanent
The QR's URL is invalidated. Any printed copies stop working the instant you confirm. If you just need to pull a code off service temporarily, use Deactivate instead — the URL stays alive and you can reactivate in one click.
